To help you plan ahead, please look out for the ‘deposit’ payment option when you book a trip online.

8 weeks before the trip start date we will send you a helpful reminder requesting the holiday balance. However, you can pay the holiday balance any time prior to the 8 week second payment reminder (a payment link is provided in the booking confirmation email).

For full details of our cancellation policy please click Booking Conditions.

The cancellation of a booking can be accepted only if it is received in writing and bears the signature of the person who made the booking.

The following cancellation charges will apply:

Period before tour start date within which written notice of cancellation is received  Amount you pay
More than 42 days £40 Deposit
42 to 29 days 60%
28 to 15 days 80%
14 to 1 days 100%
Start date or after 100%

The above percentages refer to the total tour price.  The deposit of £40 that forms part of every tour will always be forfeited in full, even if it should be more than subsequent cancellation charges.

You need to book in advance. Reservations are required for guaranteed spots on all tours. Reservations help us determine the number of guides we need to ensure that our groups remain manageable and enjoyable, and they allow us to notify you of changes to the tour due to weather or anything that could disturb the tours.

Holidays & Accommodation

For our adventure holidays and walking weekends that include accommodation as part of the trip, please be assured that we have carefully selected the accommodation to fit the holiday.  We choose from a variety of group hostels, guest houses and hotels that we know very well.

Adventure holidays inclusive of accommodation, generally include everything you can also expect on trips excluding accommodation, plus a selection of meals included in the trip price.

Country Adventures organises walking weekends and adventure holidays with and without accommodation.

Since 2016 we’ve increased the number of trips where accommodation is not included. We’ve done this after listening to our customers who wanted greater freedom to choose their own accommodation based on their own requirements, but still want to enjoy one of our quality adventure trips.

What’s included in the price of trips without accommodation?

For day walks, walking weekends, walking holidays, and multi activity breaks, this is what you can expect from Country Adventures:

  • Guided walk(s) with a professional walk leader.
  • Transport for the activity (from the meeting point to the start of the walk or activity).
  • Trip leader through-out the holiday, especially for social walking weekends.
  • Organised social evening(s).
  • We can also offer assistance with finding the right accommodation for you if you would like us to.

Each walking holiday and adventure break on our website contains everything you need to know about a trip, including an Itinerary and Trip Notes section with full details of what’s included.

The Trip Notes section for each tour includes what appropriate clothing you need to bring with you. It is preferable to dress in layers and wear clothing that will wick away perspiration and keep you dry and comfortable on the tour activity.

Walking Tours

Wear what you would normally have for going walking including walking boots, ruc-sac and waterproofs (essential items) and we have recommended other items for your own personal comfort.

Other Adventure Activities

For some of our tours, including canoeing and gorge scrambling, we supply as part of the tour, specialist clothing such as wetsuits, buoyancy aids, helmets and the activity equipment needed to enjoy the adventure experience.

We do hike in the rain, snow, wind and any other weather conditions that nature decides to throw at us. After all, we’re going on adventures! If the weather is unsafe for any reason, the trip will be changed or postponed. You will be notified the week of your trip if there are changes due to weather.
